Glastonbury 2027 Tickets Break £400 Barrier: Fans React to "Ridiculous" Price Hike
Glastonbury 2027 tickets have soared past the £400 mark for the first time, sparking debate among fans as a new queue system adds to pre-sale jitters.
Glastonbury Festival is back for 2027 after its scheduled fallow year, but aspiring attendees will need deep pockets, with general admission tickets now costing £408, including a £5 booking fee [1]. This marks the first time the price has exceeded £400, representing a nearly 8% increase from the 2025 festival's £378.50.
The price hike has ignited a fierce debate online. While some fans have slammed the cost as "ridiculous" and a "complete scam," others argue that five days of top-tier music and entertainment still offers good value compared to the rising cost of individual concerts [1]. One fan noted on X that a ticket in 2000 was just £87, while another remembered paying £17 in 1986, lamenting the festival's changing demographic.
Conversely, supporters point out that single large-venue gigs can now cost £80-£100, making £408 for a five-day event with numerous acts an "absolute bargain" [1]. The ultimate justification for some? "Oasis better be playing for that ticket price," one prospective festival-goer remarked.
Despite the controversy, demand is expected to remain high when general admission tickets go on sale at 9 am on Sunday, October 4th [1]. Coach-and-ticket packages, which became available on Thursday, October 1st, sold out within 30 minutes.
A new ticketing system has also added to the pre-sale tension. Previously, buyers would join a queue before entering their registration number to complete a purchase [1]. Now, the registration number must be entered before joining the queue, assigning a unique place in the line. This change prevents tactics like using multiple devices with the same registration number to secure a better queue position, a method many fans previously employed.
While designed to make ticket purchasing more democratic, the new system has made some fans nervous [1]. Many would form 'syndicates' to divide and conquer the queues, a strategy now effectively nullified. One fan told The Independent that while the change makes it fairer, it minimises the effort put into researching "tricks and things about VPNs and IP addresses". Others took to social media to warn against queuing on multiple devices, stating that the queue ID will be the same regardless.
For those unable to pay the full amount upfront, tickets can be secured with a £100 deposit, with the remaining balance due in the first week of April [1]. Additionally, children aged 12 and under are granted free admission.
Anyone hoping to buy a ticket must have pre-registered with Glastonbury by 5 pm BST on Friday, September 25th [1]. Glastonbury 2027 will take place at Worthy Farm from June 23rd to June 27th.
While the Pyramid Stage headliners are yet to be announced, the rumour mill is in full swing. Harry Styles is heavily tipped for an appearance at Worthy Farm, according to Metro Entertainment [1], with Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Rihanna, Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, and The Rolling Stones also linked. Festival organiser Emily Eavis has ruled out Madonna and Oasis headlining, but confirmed that three other headliners are taking shape and are "very excited about it".
