Joe Manganiello Blames Ex-Boyfriend’s Curse for Illness

Actor Joe Manganiello has revealed a startling claim in his new memoir, Bloodlines: a Cuba-based shaman told him that someone placed a voodoo curse on him, allegedly linked to his recent illness ^[1]. The revelation, described as one of his most bizarre disclosures to date, centers on a mysterious health scare that has drawn public attention ^[2].

Manganiello, known for his roles in Magic Mike and True Blood, says the shaman identified Sofia Vergara’s former partner as the source of the alleged curse. This claim, reported by the New York Post and the Daily Mail Showbiz, is based solely on the memoir and has not been confirmed by any independent source ^[1][2].

The actor did not name the ex-boyfriend in his memoir, nor has the individual publicly responded to the allegations. The story gained traction after being reported by the New York Post and the Daily Mail Showbiz, both citing the book as the source ^[1][2].

While Manganiello has not detailed the nature of his illness, the mention of a spiritual cause has fueled debate over the intersection of health, belief, and celebrity narratives. The shaman’s role in diagnosing the illness through supernatural means adds a layer of intrigue to the account ^[1].

Experts in folk medicine and cultural studies note that such beliefs are common in certain regions, including parts of Cuba and Latin America, where spiritual practices often intersect with health perceptions ^[1]. However, no medical or scientific evidence supports the idea that curses can cause physical illness.

The claims remain unverified and are presented solely as part of Manganiello’s personal narrative in his memoir. No official statements have been made by Vergara or her former partner.
