Alesha Dixon Buzzes Contestant After He Mocks Cheryl Tweedy

Alesha Dixon has taken a firm stand after a Britain's Got Talent hopeful mocked Cheryl Tweedy’s vocal abilities during an audition in Blackpool ^[1]. The singer instantly pressed her red buzzer mid-performance, declaring: 'You don't come after a mate of mine' ^[2]. The incident occurred during filming for the upcoming series, which begins airing in 2027.

Alesha, who will replace Emma Willis as host of The Voice UK next year, has already formed a strong bond with Cheryl, who is joining the coaching panel alongside Will.i.am and Kelly Rowland ^[1]. The two singers are set to co-host the show with Stacey Solomon, following Emma Willis’s move to Strictly Come Dancing ^[2].

Cheryl’s return to television marks a significant shift after years of stepping back from the spotlight to focus on family life. She last released a single in 2019 and has since taken on brief roles, including a West End debut in 2:22 A Ghost Story ^[1].

Meanwhile, the departure of Sir Tom Jones after 13 years has sparked widespread backlash. Fans flooded social media with messages like 'Keep Tom Jones' and questioned ITV’s decision, with some claiming the show is being 'mocked' ^[2]. Will.i.am, reportedly devastated by the sacking, was said to have broken down in tears during filming, according to sources.

ITV confirmed Tom’s exit was due to 'financial difficulty with insurance' and thanked him for his 'irreplaceable' contribution ^[2]. Despite the controversy, Alesha has promised to bring 'energy and vibes' to The Voice, posting a bold Instagram photo in a cut-out dress bearing the show’s logo.

The new series of The Voice UK, which began filming earlier this month, has been marred by tension, with sources suggesting the atmosphere on set remains strained despite the arrival of new coaches ^[2]. The story was first reported by Mirror and Daily Mail Showbiz.
