Josh Jacobs is being removed from the commissioner’s exempt list, making him eligible to play in the Packers’ Week 7 matchup against the Lions on Oct. 25 [1]. The running back, who was placed on the list on Aug. 30 following a May 23 arrest over an alleged altercation with a woman at his Green Bay home, pleaded no contest to battery and criminal destruction of property on Sept. 10. He was fined $1,000 for the battery charge and entered a deferred judgment agreement on the property damage charge [2].

Despite the legal resolution, the NFL’s personal conduct policy investigation remains open, primarily because the league has not yet seen the surveillance video from inside Jacobs’ home, which was referenced in the criminal report [1]. Footage from the garage was viewed, but the interior home video remains withheld [2].

Jacobs’ attorneys—Clarence F. Duchac III, David Z. Chesnoff, and Richard A. Schonfeld—released a statement saying he has dedicated months to self-improvement, accepts responsibility for his actions, and is grateful for support from teammates, coaches, and fans [1]. They added Jacobs is excited to return to the field.

The NFL has not confirmed whether the video will be released, but both Jacobs and the victim have filed lawsuits to block its disclosure and seek permanent sealing [2]. The Brown County Circuit Court lifted a temporary seal on Sept. 24, handing the decision to local police, who said some records would be released but delayed due to appeals.

If the NFL imposes a suspension, the six games Jacobs has already missed will count toward it. Any additional suspension would require more games missed [1]. The Packers are set to play the Cowboys this Sunday at Lambeau Field before facing Detroit [2]. The story was first reported by New York Post and ESPN.
